Hello, songwriters, My name is Jude Johnstone. I am now offering private one-on-one songwriting sessions from my home in Nashville, Tennessee. I have written songs for Bonnie Raitt, Emmylou Harris, Johnny Cash, Trisha Yearwood, Bette Midler, Stevie Nicks, Mary Black, Jennifer Warnes, and others. I wrote a #1 song “The Woman Before Me” for Trisha’s debut cd which won a BMI award and my songs appeared on eight more of her cds. I also penned the title track for Johnny Cash’s 1997 Grammy winning album, “Unchained.”
I’ve been covered on TV shows: Nurse Jackie, Lie To Me and Army Wives and won an IAMA award for Best Americana Song for “Quiet Girl” in 2014. I’ve also released 8 of my own cds and opened shows for Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt, Emmylou Harris, Shawn Colvin, Richard Thompson, Chris Hillman, 10,000 Maniacs… and toured Europe under my own name numerous times.
I’ve done many songwriting workshops and seminars including Sisters Folk Festival in Oregon, West Coast Songwriters in CA, Ulster University in Belfast, Ireland, Berklee College of Music, and at my home in California and now here in Nashville. I can help you with your songwriting. Even in one session. They are $100 per 2-hour session, in person, or you can hook up with me on FaceTime from anywhere, if you message me on Facebook or email me and arrange a time with me to sit with you and work on your song. You can send me an mp3 of it ahead of time or just play it for me live on your end and we’ll talk about it.

*Bring your instrument and a copy of the lyrics for one or two songs you’re working on, unless you play piano, in which case, I have a 1926 Mason & Hamlin parlor grand here. If you don’t play an instrument, and just need help with a lyric idea, you can just bring your notebook. Each session is a private, one-on-one session with me.
